Our
Story
Cape Fear was founded by members of our community that have a desire and a calling to improve and help our community through interaction, education and teamwork. Many of our volunteers are veterans or first responders and are intimately aware of the need for trained personnel in the first days of a disaster. Hurricane Florence was a catalyst for most of our team; it was the storm that brought most of us together while performing search and rescue operations with our respective groups at the time. This disaster hit our community hard, but it also pulled us together and showed us how beneficial it is to work with our local Emergency Management but also able to work outside of their limitations. We understand how overwhelmed our emergency systems can get, how communications go out and how there are not enough responders for the needs of the community. We have a desire to help, to be properly trained, equipped and to be an asset to those in need.
